I'm Back...
from the home page...
For me, this has been a year where I've slowly had to come to terms with some real changes that finally needed to happen, both personally, professionally and with regard to my lifestyle. Everything came to a head on Memorial Day when I was rushed by paramedics to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital where I spent almost a week getting some plaque out of my arteries. In addition, I dealt with an ulcer that was almost a bleeder, plus spent much of the time making sure that my blood pressure was stabilized and that my LDL cholesterol was within acceptable limits.
I am ever grateful to the cardiologist, Dr. James Tran from Fountain Valley and also the superb staff at UCI Medical Center, all of whom knew that bad diet, bad choices, hypertension and type II diabetes were only exacerbating my problems. As a result of follow-up's over the summer, I have passed other stress tests, and my sugars and cholesterol numbers are where they should be. Much of my problem came from eating whatever and whenever I wanted, not to mention working the night shift for over 7 years at my regular job and often not getting to bed until 3 or 4 in the morning. After a several weeks leave of absence from work, I came back to my new "9 to 5" daytime hours. I now eat three square meals a day, get to bed early and wake up early.
I've come to realize the importance of having balance in my life. It helps me to better appreciate what I do on Saturday's. I now see the live production of my show as a reward for the hard work and discipline I've maintained throughout the week. Another thing that became very clear during this time (based on all the pushing and prodding of me) in your messages, is how much you missed the show that brought me to KCAA, The Many Moods of Vince Daniels. I just wanted you to know that I've listened, and have decided to resurrect it upon my return, October 1st. The familiar themes will be there, plus some returning cast of characters.
At least once a month, I will host alone. Paul Andrews, Kim Barrick, and Cal Walton will individually join me to co-host the show monthly. Nick Anthony continues as producer and news anchor. He'll occasionally be heard during Headline Rewind segments. The rest of the cast includes Crista Curtis and her new On The Road reports by telephone as she offers straight forward and often humorous anecdotes about life, love, people and politics. With his financial updates, Jerry Slusiewicz continues as my Man on the Money. Steven Greydanus of "Decent Films" will file his movie reviews. Dr. Austin Hewlett will offer Health Care. Etiquette expert, Samantha von Sperling returns with her Manners Moments. Bruce Barker is the voice of the show and co-host Andrews will be heard some weeks in his role as media mogul, complete with T.V. trivia and his look Inside The Tube.
As you navigate around the website, you'll see all the bells and whistles. It's our hope that all the information you're looking for is right where you want to see it. You'll see that we've added a picture gallery, and hey, if you miss That Happy Feeling song that we played for 52 straight days, you'll notice that it now has a home of its own. You'll see the "52" logo located on the bar over to your right. And don't forget, if you couldn't catch a live show, we have audio-only podcasts that you can access starting with the first show of my return. They're available to listen or to download.
This is just the beginning, my friends. There's a lot more to be added to the site in the days, weeks and months ahead, including a new Facebook fan page that I plan on starting prior to the middle of October. If you want to get a brief synopsis of who and what is coming up on the next Saturday show, be sure to log-on here the day before, early on Friday morning and check out the calendar section on the right-hand side bar.
Thank you for coming back. Welcome!
